The wind bloweth where it listeth (john 3:8)

A penny for your thought! You’re probably thinking, is she now into meteorology abi what is her business with the wind bayi? Don’t worry I’m not Jack, I’m still Mojola but grab a seat, Abba has something to say about winds and you today. Yes, you! Are you seated?

I was taught a song in primary school about Jesus and Nicodemus that I really liked. I really love to teach you the song, but I don’t know how that would be possible. The tonic solfa is something like:
M:s:s:m:d:r:m:m. Act like you know the song and sing with me. lol

A certain man went to Jesus
His name was Nicodemus
He said unto the Lord
What can I do to save my soul?
Jesus said unto the man
You must be born again
Oh my brother, oh my sister
You must be born agai

I loved this song so much that I sang it everywhere; my family members are used to the fact that when Mojola likes a song, she’ll sing till the song starts crying for help. I sang it in the bathroom, at the shop, on errands, in class, in my sleep; everywhere, in fact, I think I took it thrice as a “special number” in Sunday school. What I didn’t know was that there was more to that conversation with Nicodemus. The song left out some very crucial parts of the conversation that I didn’t realize until years later.

You can call him a popular jingo

Brother Nico was a very popular Pharisee and Jewish leader who went to Oga Jesus and told him that he knew of a fact that God sent him because neither Merlin, Harry porter nor Nicholas Flamel could perform the miracles that he did. Brother Nico was definitely not expecting the words that followed. Jesus told him he needed to be born again to see the kingdom of God, and baba was totally confounded. Born again bawo? How exactly can a grown-up shrink into a zygote and be sent back into the womb? Then brother Nico replied and said in Hebrew “Ani lo mevin” which I translated as “eleyi tun gbenutan o

I want you to read the response of Jesus as slowly as possible

“A person is born physically of human parents but is born spiritually of the spirit. Do not be surprised because I tell you that you must all be born again. The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. It is like that with everyone who is born of the spirit”. (Goodnews translation)

I couldn’t help but visualize Jesus and Nicodemus that evening. Perhaps a night wind swept across the chamber they sat, and this birthed the parable Jesus gave about the wind. I know you want to shout wisdom! Wisdom! But no need ehn, we all know Jesus is the wisdom of the wise. Don’t leave me just yet! Lol. Let us dissect this parable of Jesus together.

“The wind blows where it listeth” (wherever it wishes)

“A conference of plenipotentiaries from all the powers of Europe may sit for a week and resolve unanimously that the east wind shall not blow for the next six months, but it will take no heed of the arrangement, and will cast dust into the counselors’ eyes, and whistle at their wisdom. No proclamation or purpose under heaven will be able to affect the wind by so much as half a point of the compass”.

“It is like that with anyone born of the spirit of God.”

Glory to God! Jesus was trying to tell Nicodemus here that anyone born of the spirit is unstoppable, just like the wind. Nothing can stop a child of God, because God Himself qualified you; no barriers whatsoever can stop you because the Holy Spirit lives in you. You walk, talk, sleep, wake, and do things supernaturally. Your life is for signs and wonders. It doesn’t matter how many people failed at that project; you will win at it because you are an unstoppable child of God.

So next time someone tells you not to try to apply for a job because you ain’t “qualified,” tell them that” the wind bloweth where it listeth.” Or someone says to you, “nobody ever makes it to the last phase of this project,” don’t talk too much o, just tell them “the wind bloweth where it listeth,” and leave them to ponder.

You can call me unstoppable Mojola because Abba said so. in fact, I am going to customize a T-shirt with the inscription “the wind bloweth where it listeth.” This is my mantra from now on!

Bring your right ear closer; let me tell you something.

Famine couldn’t stop Isaac as he sowed and reaped a hundredfold. 125,000 soldiers could not stop Gideon, and he won with just 300 men on his side. Joseph, David, Paul, and even our darling Jesus were unstoppable, so tell me how your case can be different? The scripture says there’s “a lifting for you when others say there’s a casting down.” Psalm, 105:15 calls you “God’s anointed.” Deuteronomy, 31:8 says, “you should not be afraid because the Lord is always with you.” Jeremiah, 29: 11 says, “God has perfect plans for you.” Philippians, 4:19 says, “He will supply all your needs,” and Deuteronomy, 30:9 says, “the Lord shall prosper the works of my hands.” I didn’t fabricate these verses; they’re all in the scriptures. What better confirmation do you need?

There’s one more thing I need to tell you

That statement made by Jesus wasn’t general. It recognized only those born of the spirit as unstoppable. Are you born again? Do you have the Holy Spirit? Can you boldly say that you are a true child of God? If you honestly cannot say yes to these questions, you’re missing out.

You are missing a great deal, and I cannot begin to explain the dimensions of transformation in which your life will take when you accept Jesus. What is sweeter than having a friend who would hold your hand and walk with you through life? A friend who will gladly help you surmount all of life’s challenges? A friend who is interested in the minutest detail about you? I doubt if a search through all the seven continents of the world would locate that kind of friend. Jesus is that friend you need. Will you accept this special invite?
